Behind the Light

Hi! I am Jess,

I am so excited your here!

As a Christian single mom, counselor-in-training, and storyteller, my journey has been anything but easy. I’ve walked through addiction, grief, trauma, and loss. Even so, in the middle of all that brokenness, God never stopped pursuing me. In July 2018, I surrendered to Him and laid down alcohol for good. From that point forward, life began to change. That choice became a turning point in my sobriety, my faith, and the way I live today.

A Light in the Wilderness was born out of my desire to share that story — not the polished version, but the real, raw, and honest one. This is a space for anyone who has ever felt weary, unseen, or forgotten. Here, I write about faith, mental health, family, healing, and the small joys that remind us God is nearby. Because of that, my hope is that as you read, you’ll remember you are not alone. Even when the season feels darkest, God’s light still breaks through.

Looking ahead, I dream of creating a faith-based counseling practice, hosting wellness retreats, writing a book, and becoming a public speaker. In addition, I want to keep building spaces where women can come as they are and encounter the love of Christ.

So, stay tuned to see where this journey leads!

“God is within her; she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” — Psalm 46:5
